My name is Mohammed Ali Eslami and I am an MCS alumi (1995-200). I attended MCS from 3rd grade-8th grade, where I left from high school to complete homeschooling and then joined college. I have been in the area for over 15 years now, been a part of the community for that long as well, seen the ups and downs, and with all of your prayers, will hopefully get my PhD within the next couple of years in Electrical Engineering. Let's start from the beginning. My parents moved from Dodge City, KS, back in 1995 because they saw the positive effects of being in an Islamic environment, that had on my uncle's family who had moved into this community a couple of years before us. Primarily, the effect a Muslim school had in shaping a child was very appealing to my parents. When we moved down here , I was only Muslim by name, did not know what Islam was, barely knew the names of the Imams, knew I had a Prophet named Mohammad, and that God was one. Oh, and I also knew Surah Fatiha and Surah Towheed. I mean I would pronounce YUSUF, as YUFUS, because I could NOT say Yusuf, not because I was making a mistake. The first days of school were difficult because I had no friends and everything was new. Some people had more of a background so they caught onto the Quran and Arabic class quickly, but just being in the environment pushed me to work harder and at least begin to be able to read the Quran. I remember in 3rd and 4th grade, when I couldn't read too well, I would memorize the Quran off a tape and soon had a good portion of the 30th Juz read rather fluently. The environment that was created, the talks of advice that were given by the principal then, Br. Salahudeen Kareem, the friendships that were made, and so much more, the effects of those things have lasted up until this day! It is only being involved in such a community that you can really see the Quran come to life in all its aspects."All that is with men will pass, but what is with Allah will remain": (16:96). I have been a student almost my whole life now, both in a Muslim school when I was younger, and also in a non-Muslim environment throughout my whole college life. I can say with the utmost confidence that all the non-Muslim environment was able to provide me was education, AND THAT IS IT! Teachers, books, homework, and nothing else. But MCS was what provided me with discipline, morals, Islamic awareness, and care. I hear of the ups and downs with the school and pray for their best conditions. It is truly sad to see a school of this stature taken for granted, and insha…. Allah (SWT) will keep it going as He has throughout these many years. If I have any sense of connection or awareness of my religion nowadays, I can say with the utmost certainty that MCS had a MAJOR role in laying that foundation. I thank all of those in the past and those in the present who strive to keep this school on the right path. Allah (SWT) help all of them…
