Early Childhood Program
The Early Childhood program shall be conducted under the guidance of Irene Shere of The Early Childhood Consultation Center (www.earlychild.org). Irene Shere has been an educator for more than 30 years. She is an early childhood specialist and consultant to families, preschools, and daycare centers working with children ages two through ten.
Eligible Students: Students will be organized into three groups. These groups are described below.
Group 1: The students in this group will be ages 2 – 3; born before June 2006. Their days will be filled with exploration and play. Learning Centers, Guided Play, Outdoor Adventures and Artistic expression will be included in their daily activities. Islamic themed games, songs, stories, and lessons are integrated into the Early Childhood curriculum. Children in this group must be potty trained.
Group 2: The students in this group will be ages of 3 – 4; born before June 2005. Their program will include all of the activities in the previous program, with the addition of cooperative games and projects for coordination and balance. Students will be encouraged toward team work and improved interpersonal skills. Islamic themed games, songs, stories, and lessons are integrated into the Early Childhood curriculum.
Group 3: The students in this group will be entering Kindergarten in the 2008/2009 school year; born before August 2003. Their program will encourage social growth and cooperation to prepare them for full-day Kindergarten. They will use arts, movement, songs and stories to learn the alphabet. In addition, they will explore the numbers 1-10 through the use of stories and manipulatives. Islamic themed games, songs, stories, and lessons are integrated into the Early Childhood curriculum.
Registration Begins: April 1, 2008. To register for the early childhood Summer LAF, mail the completed registration form and appropriate payment (MasterCard, VISA, check or money order) to: Muslim Community School, 7917 Montrose Road, Potomac, MD 20854. Incomplete registrations will not be processed. Registration may also be done online at www.mymcs.org.

July 18, 2008—Second session

Class Schedule:
Classes in the Early Childhood Program will be offered in three scheduling blocks.
Morning Block: 8:00am – 11:40am Daily
Afternoon Block: 12:00pm – 3:15pm Daily
Late Afternoon Block: 3:30pm – 6:00pm Daily
Full Day Schedule: 8:00am – 6:00pm Daily
Tuition:
One Block - $350 per session
Two Blocks - $650 per session
Full Day - $950 per session
Multiple child discount: Full tuition for 1st child, 10% for 2nd sibling and 15% discount for 3rd sibling.
Grade Reports: Students in the Pre-Kindergarten Program will not receive grade reports, however, instructors will prepare a portfolio of student work for parents to review. Parents will also be advised of their child’s interpersonal and cooperative skills, as these skills are essential for successful matriculation in Kindergarten classrooms.
Medical Information: It is the responsibility of the parents’ to notify the administration of MCS of any important medical information pertaining to your child(ren). On the first day of class, parents and/or legal guardians should complete the Medical information Form to MCS administrative office to report any special accommodations required for the student.
