**Special activities include on-campus carnivals, field days and competitive sporting events. In addition, there will be off-campus special activities such as laser tag, rock climbing, bowling, hiking and other adventures.
Tuition:
One Block (Half Day) - $350 per session
Two Blocks (Full Day) - $650 per session
Multiple child discount: Full tuition for 1st child, 10% for 2nd sibling and 15% discount for 3rd sibling.
Grade Reports: Each student enrolled in Summer LAF will receive a written evaluation of their progress on the last day of the session.
Snack: A healthy snack will be provided for the students each day.
Medical Information: It is the responsibility of the parents’ to notify the administration of MCS of any important medical information pertaining to your child(ren). On the first day of class, parents and/or legal guardians should complete the Medical information Form to MCS administrative office to report any special accommodations required for the student. COURSES:
Language Arts/Reading, Grades 1-3 (ES-LA1)
This session will focus on improving the reading of these elementary students, emphasis will be placed on decoding and comprehension. Students will be given assessments and receive instruction to focus on their individual needs. Teachers will teach reading strategies and coach students to apply these strategies to improve their reading. This class is open to students who have completed Grades K, 1, or 2.
Language Arts/Reading, Grades 4-5 (ES-LA2)
This session will focus on reading and writing, emphasis will be placed on vocabulary and comprehension. Students will be placed in an environment which provides them with a variety of reading opportunities to read. They will then respond to their reading through in group discussions, creative expression and in written format. Students will be given assessments and receive instruction to focus on their individual needs. This class is open to students who have completed Grades 3 or 4.
Mathematics, Grades 1–3 (ES-M1)
This will be a technology-based mathematics enrichment/reinforcement course. Students will be given “hands-on” and inquiry-based projects in which they apply mathematic principles to “real-world” problems. Students will work in small multi-age groups, and they will be given assessments and receive instruction to focus on their individual needs. This class is open to students who have successfully completed Grades K, 1, or 2.
Mathematics, Grades 4–5 (ES-M2)

Islamic Studies/Qur’an, Grades 1 – 2 (ES-IS1)
The fundamental concept of Tawheed will be introduced and reinforced in this class. Through stories, activities and nasheeds, students will learn about Allah, His attributes and His creation. This class is open to students who have successfully completed Grades K or 1.
Islamic Studies/Qur’an, Grades 3 – 5 (ES-IS2)
This course will review the foundation of Islamic beliefs, including Tawheed, good manners, and lessons from the Qur’an through activities, stories, and nasheeds. Arabic Qur’an reading and recitation will also be taught. Since MCS is a nonsectarian school, when issues of Fiqh are introduced; they are addressed from both the Sunni and Shia Schools of Thought. This class is open to students who have successfully completed Grades 3 or 4.
Swimming (G-SWIM; B-SWIM)
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a private swimming session, twice per week. During each one hour session, students will be given a 30-minute swimming lesson and 30-minutes of free swim. Swimmers will be divided into two classes, by ability. Boys and girls will be attending swimming sessions on two separate days. *Swimmers will take bag lunch on their swimming days.
ELECTIVES:
Art (ES-A)
In this exciting course, students will be introduced to a variety of expressive media and styles. They will be assigned session long projects through which they can develop skill with one medium or explore the workings of all presented media. The session will culminate with an exhibition of students’ work.
Computer, Level I (ES-C1)
In this course students will Students will learn how to use a computer, printer, scanner, and other hardware. They will also learn keyboarding skills, proper care of disks, the use of removable storage devices and they will be exposed to commonly used software programs.
Computer, Level 2 (ES-C2)
This more advanced computer course focuses on students with prior computer experience. Students will master word processing and learn “real world” uses of other software and the Internet, through research adventures. Language Arts and scientific exploration will be emphasized.
History through the Arts (ES-HttA)
The goal of this course is to bring historic events to life through the use of the arts. Poetry, dramatic interpretation and visual arts will be used to study and analyze an event in history. Instructors will emphasize different aspects of artistic production, while imparting experiential knowledge about the selected period in history.
Academic Reinforcement (ES-AR)
This elective is special crafted for students who are having difficulty mastering specific subjects. During this time, students will receive individual instruction and reinforcement in subject areas that challenge them. Special note, this elective is only offered in the mornings.
Science (ES-SC)
This experiential science program will feature a new topic each week. Students will be exposed to enrichment elements from the core curriculum. Small multi-aged learning groups will research and investigate phenomena from the natural world. Topics will include: insects, solar energy, the water cycle and more.
Foreign Languages (ES-FL)
Students will have the opportunity to choose a foreign language to study throughout a session. Classes will be offered in Spanish, French, Farsi, and Arabic to enhance students’ knowledge and expand their cultural horizons.
